9th Annual Diocesan MMVS Conference held at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, San Francisco

The much awaited Annual Diocesan Conference was held at St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, San Francisco. The conference started with an evening prayer and devotional address by Rev. Fr Binny Kuruvilla, Vice President MMVS on Thursday, Sept 28th. Friday the 29th September witnessed the grand inauguration with flag hoisting and lighting the lamp and prayer, followed by a meditation followed by Rev. Fr. Joji K Joy.

Rev. Fr. Isaac B. Prakash was the keynote speaker. The theme for this year was taken from Rev 13:10; Call for the endurance and faith of the saints” Achen kept the audience spellbound with his vast knowledge in theology and excellent art of public speaking. His voice has its own beauty and his language is very smooth and enticing that it captures the heart and mind of the audience. He spoke about how a person can be a saint and how to build up endurance to attain that goal. It was a great blessing that we had Isaac Achen as the keynote speaker. We all were privileged to hear his 3 speeches, 2 on Friday and one on Saturday.

The second speaker on this occasion was Rev. Fr. Joji K Joy, a very well-known convention speaker from Kerala. The topic he spoke on was “Feminine streams in spirituality.” We were privileged to hear his speeches on Friday and Saturday. Achen’s profound knowledge in theology and language skill are worth mentioning. There is no doubt that he is an excellent speaker. The two eminent speakers Rev. Fr. Isaac Prakash and Rev. Fr. Joji K. Joy made the conference very memorable.

Dr. Mrs. Rekha Avirah, a primary care Physician, spoke on CardioVascular and Diabetic practices. Her informative class cleared a lot of myths.

Praise and worship were conducted by the church choir of St. Gregorios Church. The melodious voice of the members of the choir still reverberates in our ears. There was a business meeting on Friday, the 29th; annual report and financial report were read and both were passed unanimously. Annual Quiz was conducted during this conference and prizes were awarded to the winners. Catering of food was excellent and our thanks go to those who were involved in it. Transportation was excellent – pick up and drop off were right on time. Our sincere thanks go to those who were in charge of transportation and hotel accommodation. We are very thankful to those who generously opened their doors to accommodate those who came from other churches.

We are happy to say that there were 24 churches that participated in the conference with a total of about 200 participants. It was really a good turnout. We sincerely thank Rev. Fr. C.G. Thomas. Rev. Fr. Yohannan Panicker, Rev. Fr. Mathai Allakkot, Rev. Fr. Phillip Abraham, Dn. Saju Varghese and Br. Amal Punnoose for their wonderful presence and very sincere participation. I do not know how to thank Rev. Fr. Thomas Mathai, Vicar of St. Gregorios Orthodox Church for his unfailing support to make this conference a great success. Not but lease our sincere thanks go to the Regional Secretary Mrs. Sanumol Varghese and unit secretary Mrs. Lizy John for the great work that they did to make this conference very memorable. There are many others who put their effort to make this conference a great success.

We give all our praise and thanks to God Almighty for the wonderful guidance he gave us to make this conference a blessed one.
