Blessings to all our Cor Episcopoi, Priests, Deacons, Managing Committee members, and all the faithful of our Diocese,

As the Holy Malankara Orthodox Church continues its mission in the world by establishing churches and catering the spiritual needs of its flock across the world, we have been given the blessing to witness Jesus Christ in the land of North America. Along with our sister churches in the Orthodox Faith we have the calling to bring the Truth of Christ through the liturgical life and beauty of the Syriac Orthodox tradition in this continent.

Throughout the past decades our community has struggled to establish itself in a new world and culture. Many members of our clergy and laity have sacrificed a great deal for the Church’s growth in North America and have taken great pain to make our liturgical life more accessible for our English-speaking faithful. We are deeply indebted to their service and sacrifice. We also acknowledge the efforts of the Liturgical Committee, formed in 2012, whose work to create a unified Qurbanakramam, is in its final stages. We also gratefully acknowledge the sincere efforts of Rev. Fr. Dr. Baby Varghese, whose English prose translations of our liturgical services from the original Syriac serves as the foundation for nearly all of our new versifications and liturgical resources.

In order to focus and increase our efforts to the availability and accessibility of English liturgical texts and resources in both prose and verse, we are pleased to create the Ministry of Liturgical Resource Development (LRD). The LRD will officially start functioning on August 1, 2015 and continue through September 30, 2016, at which point we will reevaluate its mission, effectiveness, and continuation.

We appoint Fr. Joel Mathew as the Director, Mr. Jobby Jacob (Houston) as the Project Manager, and Mr. Jason Abraham (Los Angeles) as the Treasurer of the LRD. We have authorized them to set tasks, determine the parameters of the work, establish deadlines, and raise, maintain, and distribute funds necessary for liturgical work. We also appoint Dn. Saju Varghese to work full-time for the LRD from September, 1 2015 through September 30, 2016. His responsibilities include: translation, versification, editing, proofreading, audio recordings, and formatting-publishing resources. We also designate Fr. Jake Kurian

We further expect that any resources produced by the LRD will receive the appropriate consultation and undergo proper review. We seek the cooperation of all our clergy for any assistance and support in this endeavor. This project will require the earnest prayers and generous financial support of all our faithful throughout North America. We request all our members to provide their maximum support to the Liturgical Resource Development project.

May the intercession of Mary the mother of God, St. Thomas the apostle to India and our saints Mar Gregorios and Dionysius be a fortress for us all.
