St. Gregorios Church, Kansas City Hosts First OVBS
Kansas City: The first annual Orthodox Vacation Bible School (OVBS) of the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church of Kansas City was held on August 16-18, 2013. The weekend commenced with evening prayer and a devotional presented by Fr. Elias Issa, priest of St. Basil Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church in Kansas City, and also the site for this year’s OVBS. The weekend of fun and fellowship consisted of prayer, devotional messages, theme-related lessons, song sessions, crafts, group workshops, meals and outdoor fun. After the celebration of the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, the children presented a brief summary of the OVBS and sang songs related to this year’s theme of humility (St. James 4:10) followed by a slideshow presentation and vote of thanks.
The success of this year’s OVBS is attributed to the cooperative effort of several volunteers who came together as a team to assist with the various planning and details of the weekend.
