According to the Constitution of the Malankara Orthodox Church, Every diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Church has a Diocesan Assembly. The Diocesan Metropolitan presides over the assembly meeting. All matters related to the spiritual growth of the Diocese are discussed and decided in this administrative body, including the budget and accounts. Each parish of the Diocese is represented at the Assembly by their Vicar and a certain number of elected laity, based on the number of parishioners.
The term of all Diocesan Assembly delegates is five years. The Diocesan Assembly meets once a year or otherwise deemed appropriate by the Metropolitan.
The 2022 Diocesan Assembly was held on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at St. Mary’s Malankara Orthodox Church, Houston and elected 1 priest as the diocesan secretary, 2 priests and 4 laymen for the diocesan council, and 1 layman as the diocesan internal auditor.
