Apostles Lent from June 16th – June 29

The Apostles Lent will be beginning from today  June 16th  and will be observed for 13 days and will end on June 29

The Apostles' Fast, also called the Fast of the Holy Apostles. The term "Apostle"  is derived from the Greek word "Apostolos" which means One who is sent forth as a messenger. All apostles were disciples before they were selected as apostles. Paul of Tarsus was known as the Apostle to the Gentiles. St. Paul was different, as he was he claimed a special commission from the Resurrected Jesus. June 29 is honored as the day of the martyrdom of St. Paul and St. Peter.

The lent as mentioned in the name is to rejoice in the ministry of the apostles and also to remember their sacrifices and persecutions they had to undergo for their witnessing of Christ. We honor this by our own sacrifice and discipline during this period of fasting and prayers.
