Consecration Of St. Mary's Malankara Orthodox Church, Dallas
Dallas- : The newly constructed St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Farmers Branch, Dallas, Texas was consecrated on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 13,14 and 15, 2011.
The 91st reigning Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan H.H Baselios Mar Thoma Paulose II was the chief celebrant. His Holiness was assisted by other Diocesan Metropolitans. The co-celebrants included South West Diocesan Metropolitan, H.G Alexios Mar Eusebius, H.G Gabriel Mar Gregorios (Metropolitan of Trivandrum Diocese), H.G Abraham Mar Epiphanios (Metropolitan of Sultan Batheri Diocese) and H.G Joshua Mar Nicodemus (Metropolitan of Nilackal Diocese). The choir was wonderfully led by Fr. M.P George, Professor of Liturgical music at the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam and Director of Shruthi school of liturgical music.
The sanctification of this church was attended by many priests from South West and other dioceses, community dignitaries, along with thousands of believers.There was a public meeting held after Qurbana on Saturday after the consecration. The Mayor of the City of Farmers Branch, Mr. Tim O Hare was present on the occasion. Plaques were given to former vicars of the Church and all the metropolitans and to the construction team, guarantors and building committee. Everyone appreciated the beautiful church and the hard work and dedication of the building team and the leadership and commitment put in by the vicar, Fr. Thampan Varghese.
