MGOCSM-FOCUS Seattle visits local Coptic Orthodox Church

Seattle: MGOCSM and FOCUS members of St. Thomas Orthodox Church, Seattle visited and participated in Divine Liturgy with St. Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church, Seattle on Sunday, July 24th, in an effort to further fellowship within the local Oriental Orthodox Churches.

His Grace Bishop David of the Coptic Archdiocese of North America was the main celebrant. The Divine Liturgy of St. Basil, one of the more commonly used Liturgies in the Coptic Church, was used. Worship was filled with rich monophonic chanting in English, Coptic and Arabic and the rhythmic striking of hand cymbals. Members had the opportunity to meet with His Grace Bishop David, Parish Priest, Fr. Arsanios Hanna and other members of the Church following Liturgy.

This is the first in a series of events the group hopes to organize to continue to witness the teachings of the Church extend beyond the boundaries of language and culture.
